Crowns and Digital Impressions: The Future of Dental Restorations
At our practice, we are dedicated to providing the most advanced and comfortable solutions for your dental needs. Traditional methods for creating crowns often involve uncomfortable impressions, long wait times, and multiple visits. Fortunately, with CEREC technology, we can now offer a more efficient and comfortable experience. Here’s how CEREC crowns and digital impressions transform your dental care.
Challenges with Traditional Dental Impressions
Traditional dental impressions can sometimes be uncomfortable and challenging. The impression materials used often cause gagging and discomfort, which can make the process unpleasant. Additionally, these materials can change dimensionally over time, leading to inaccuracies. This may result in the need to send impressions to the lab multiple times to get the perfect fit.
Another drawback is the reliance on temporary crowns. These temporary solutions can cause sensitivity and discomfort while you wait for the final crown to be crafted by the lab. This process often takes several weeks, adding to the inconvenience and discomfort.

The Advantages of CEREC Crowns
With CEREC technology, we’ve streamlined the entire process, making it faster, more comfortable, and more precise. Here’s how CEREC crowns improve your experience:
No Gagging or Discomfort: Digital impressions are a game-changer. We use a small, intraoral scanner to capture precise images of your teeth, eliminating the need for traditional impression materials. This process is quick and comfortable, with no gagging or discomfort.
Precision and Efficiency: Our CEREC system uses advanced technology to create highly accurate 3D images of your teeth. This precision ensures that your crown fits perfectly, reducing the need for adjustments and the need for multiple lab visits.
Same-Day Service: One of the greatest advantages of CEREC crowns is that they can be completed in a single visit. Our state-of-the-art milling machine, the Primemill, is the best in the market. It mills your crown in just 17 minutes. After milling, the crown undergoes a sintering and glazing process, which takes an additional 18 minutes. In total, your crown will be ready in about 45 minutes.
Durable Materials: We use high-strength ceramic materials for our CEREC crowns, ensuring durability and a natural appearance. These materials are designed to withstand the demands of daily use while providing a seamless match to your existing teeth.
The word “CEREC” is an acronym for:
Chairside: The technology is used while you are in the dental chair, right in our office.
Economical: If time is money, this feature pays for itself!
Restorations: The procedure restores your tooth to its natural beauty, function and strength.
Esthetic: The restorations are metal-free and tooth-colored.
Ceramic: High-strength ceramics are used that are close in composition to your natural tooth structure.
The Process Simplified
Digital Scanning: We start by taking digital impressions of your teeth using our intraoral scanner.
Design and Milling: The digital images are used to design your crown, and the Primemill machine mills it to precision in just 17 minutes.
Sintering and Glazing: The crown is then sintered and glazed, which takes 18 minutes.
Placement: Once completed, we place the crown on your tooth, ensuring a perfect fit and finish.
